This has a full blue graphical display which makes it really easy to read during day or night. It will also be really easy to update the menu options at any time. Please note you do not need to stare at the display, because it will make a loud beeping noise when it senses a radar or laser signal.
One of the really cool functions of this model is that it has a car battery voltage display. This feature is great if you have a high powered audio or video system in your car, and it is also just generally good to know if your battery voltage is too low or too high, so you can avoid electrical problems. In fact the radar will actually automatically allert the driver if your battery falls below 11.9 volts. Any car battery should be running at approximately 12 volts.
On this model, the strength of the radar or laser detection signal is not displayed through a hard to read bar graph, rather it displays a big number of 1 through 5, so it is easy to read! If you have the volume on low or on off, the display will still catch your attention easily, because it will flash.
The settings are so easy to set, and extremely user friendly because of the graphic display. On other radar detector models, this is usually one of the biggest complaints. Another really cool thing about the xrs9745 is that you can change a color theme from blue, green, red, orange, or multi colored.
Another cool feature we noticed on this model, is that the radar detector can detect your speed and automatically mute the radar sound. this is an optional setting.
Most importantly, this radar detector has a 360 degrees coverage and it responds to all types of signals police use to detect the speed of a vehicle. It will detect radar, and laser signals. This model also has an increased range of detection and provides advanced warnings. There is a built in 8 point digital compass, which is an incredible feature.
