The Mackie SR1521z is a high-efficiency, high output, horn-loaded, 2-way, wide-dispersion, active sound reinforcement system. The SR1521z is capable of emitting blistering waves of crankitude due to its integrated 400 watts of Mackie amplifier power, active electronics, and precision Mackie 15" and 1.75" transducers, all self-contained in a tuned wooden enclosure. That's right, we said wood — because wood just sounds better. And the Mackie SR1521z is very affordable.
We've Taken All The Hassle Out Of Bi-Amping
Bi-amplified systems always sound better than passive speakers driven by a single power amp. But few of us can spend the extra money on electronic crossovers and extra power amps. Not to mention all the extra hassle and setup. Our active electronics take all the guesswork out of system configuration and hookup. Just plug in the power cable and the signal line from your board or snake — we've already done the rest for you. No need for racks of amps and processing gear when you've got Mackie Active Loudspeakers. And the built-in active crossover sends the optimal signal to each of the internal amplifiers, which were custom designed for their respective transducers.
Four Hundred Watts You'll Swear Is A Thousand
The SR1521z's built-in 300 and 100-watt power amps are pretty impressive all by themselves. But to get the same output from a typical passive system you'd have to use far more power. That's because the amps in our active speakers are directly coupled to their transducers and were specifically designed to squeeze out every drop of output. Our "competition" simply can't touch this level of efficiency, sound quality, and performance in this class of loudspeakers.
Cool...Running, That Is.
Even though these amps get cranked to the max (come on, admit it, you like it loud!) they never lose their cool. Our high-current amplifier modules sit atop a massive aluminum heatsink totally eliminating the need for fans. Another tremendous benefit of having these amplifiers located within the loudspeaker cabinet is that the SR1521z functions as a complete system, optimizing acoustic, electronic, and mechanical designs to achieve the highest level of performance and value.
Cuz Wood Sounds Good
For extreme output applications, molded speaker cabinets just can't keep up. That's why the SRz Series loudspeakers are constructed with extremely resonant 18mm Baltic Birch ply. Wood of this quality sings at high volumes, delivering crisp, even tone at volumes that would pulverize the competition's rat-fur covered particle board shoeboxes. Weight balanced carrying handles are integrated into the sides and top for easy loading and transport. And speaking of transportability, you can fit a pair of Mackie SR1521z's into a subcompact hatchback.
The Rear Panel
The rear mounted amplifier assembly features separate signal and AC power panels separated by the heat sink. The signal input panel contains:

Solid Wood Construction
Molded cabinets are perfect for portable loudspeakers like the SRM450, but to achieve the increased output needed for larger gigs, there's still no substitute for good ol' fashioned wood. Mackie's SRz Series delivers the renowned simplicity and integrated active electronics of its legendary SRM series, but with higher output 2- and 3-way wooden cabinets. To be specific, the cabinets are constructed of 18mm Baltic birch plywood and pressure-injected structural resin, providing more than enough "knock" to win over any audience.
Integrated Active Electronics
Thanks to completely integrated Mackie Active™ electronics, the SRz Series loudspeakers don't require any external amplifiers, crossovers or processing. The SRz Series' internal amplifier modules sit on a mammoth aluminum heatsink eliminating the need for fans. And the active circuitry inside provides precise electronic crossovers, level protection and time correction. Patented Wavefront™ Horn
The 3-way SR1530z loudspeaker features an optimized wide-dispersion WaveFront™ horn design—a scientifically developed one-piece horn which blends the output of the mid- and high-frequency drivers. Unlike typical mid/high horn designs, with a WaveFront™ horn, the high-frequency section fires slightly downward into the six-inch mid-range dispersion pattern—creating a focused, single wave front with excellent phase and power response characteristics.
